Privacy Policy

Here at newshadesofhippy.com, I’m doing my bit to be a responsible blogger and website owner. This privacy policy will outline how I collect and process your data through the use of my website.

newshadesofhippy.com is run solely by me (Anneka Nicholls.) Your trust is extremely important to me so please know that I will never trade, sell or distribute your data through this website – for any purposes.

If you have any questions at all, I am contactable via email at anneka@newshadesofhippy.com.

What data I collect and why

Comments

When you leave comments on my site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Comment information will not be used for anything other than reading and engaging with the lovely people that are my audience.

Comments made using Gravatar

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it.

The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

Newsletter subscriptions

If you subscribe to my email newsletter list, I will collect your name and email address. This information will only be used for the purposes of the newsletter and is held securely within MailChimp.

As part of the registration process for the newsletter, you will be sent a confirmation email as part of the double opt-in procedure.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in the email footer or by contacting me at anneka@newshadesofhippy.com

Contact forms

If you contact me via my contact form then WordPress will collect your name, email address and any data included in your message. This is so I can respond to your enquiry and contact you if necessary.

Analytics

In order to monitor website traffic and link sources, I may collect your IP address and information including location and pages visited. This data is held within WordPress and Google Analytics.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my blogs you can opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment.

These cookies will last for one year. If you wish to turn off cookies, please modify your internet browser settings.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you have visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

How long I keep your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Your data rights

If you would like a copy of the data I hold about you, you can request this at any time. You can also request that I erase your data.

This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Policy amendments

This privacy policy was reviewed on 18 July 2020 and is subject to change without notice. I may notify you of changes to the privacy policy via email if you have opted to receive communications from me.
